Time Management Tips For Busy Entrepreneurs

BUSY BUSY BUSY!

I hear this all the time. Many direct sellers have very full lives that keep them busy busy busy.

Does this sound familiar?

You are running a household, driving the car pools, working outside your direct sales business, volunteering, taking care of your children, cleaning the house…

The list can go on and on and on.

As a mompreneur myself I hear you!

I have four children and we live an active fun-filled life. At the same time, I have a great drive and desire to run a successful and consistent home-based business.

Here is a huge tip that can help you to make the MOST of your busy schedule.

Time Management Tip

Time Management Tip: Find Your Pockets!

We all have the same 24 hours in a day.

Why does it seem that some people get more done?

They know how to USE their pockets of time effectively and efficiently.

Everyday we have pockets of time that we can choose to use in various ways.

As a busy entrepreneur there are tasks that can be accomplished during these “pockets”.

Instead, many of us take that time to check our emails, surf the web, look at Pinterest, check our Facebook and them BAM!

That “pocket” is gone for good and we literally wasted that time. When you are working to balance your life and move your business forward at the same time, it’s critical to use your pockets of time wisely.

I want to also point out that a “pocket” does not need to always be focused on a business task.

Your pocket can be used to complete a task in your home or to fill you with healthy energy. It can be used to exercise, to pray, to reflect, to plan, to clean, or to play. It can be used to do work and it’s all about meeting your needs.

Step 1- Get ready!

The important first step to getting ready is being prepared. Here is a very simple exercise to get ready.

Write down what you can do in 10 minutes time. Go ahead and do that now. What can you do in 10 minutes?

You will be amazed when you really think about what you can physically or emotionally accomplish in just ten minutes.

Step 2- Get Set!

Once you have these written down, keep them somewhere easily accessible. You will reference these often. You can put them in your phone or on your desk or on your refrigerator!

Perhaps you had a call that canceled, or you notice you have 10 minutes before a call or 10 minutes before you need to leave for an appointment, or you are 10 minutes early to an appointment or sitting in the car waiting to pick up your kids, you have a list ready to jog your memory on how you can use this time productively.

Here are some ideas that my clients have shared with me…

They can vacuum the entire house, clean a bathroom, take a brisk walk, do push ups, sit ups, and stretching exercises, answer 4 emails, put files away from my desk, fold laundry, clean out your purse, clean out the car, dust, make a doctor’s appointment, send a inspirational text message to a teammate, write down who you will be calling that day, put together hostess packets or opportunity packets, read a book with your children, create a grocery list, meditate in silence. WOW!

Each of these will help to invigorate you or move you forward in life in some way as a busy entrepreneur.

Step 3- GO!

Here is where the action takes place. Set your timer and GO GO GO! Use a kitchen timer, a phone timer, your oven timer, whatever it takes just set it and GO!
Then take a moment to pat yourself on the back and feel the accomplishment and to know that you are using your time wisely.

With these three easy READY, GET SET, GO time management steps you will be well on your way to the balance and joy of being a busy and successful entrepreneur!

Take it to the next level—- Got 20?

You get the drift!

I often hear how busy everyone is.

Are you busy for the sake of being busy or are you in business and looking for the best return on investment with your time as possible?

Many business people are looking for things to keep them busy.  Shuffling papers, spending hours doing social networking, looking for new ideas to make their business more effective and most often all this busy work leads to days of unproductive busyness.

  • How do you spend your business time?
  • How are you utilizing the tools you have been given by others in the similar business?
Time management

Home Office Business Tip 1:

Get everything you find unpleasant to do in your business completed before 11:00 am each day.

Pick up the phone and make those dreaded calls first thing. Handle customer issues and complaints.

Save the fun and enjoyable until the hard stuff is done so your second half of the day is rewarding!

Business Tip 2:

Use the Rule of 15.

Take 15 minutes a day to clear up your work space.  Take 15 minutes a day to enter names into database.  Take 15 minutes to send out business information to random local & neighboring businesses.  Take 15 minutes a day to sit and visualize your dreams.

Anyone can do anything for 15 minutes so make a habit to do the important things everyday for 15 minutes each at a minimum!

Be Busy For A Profit Tip #3:

Do the things that get you a better return on investment of your time.  Keep yourself in a profitable business without all the busy-ness! Are you working smarter not harder? That means are you generating income for your activities or just performing activities?

The more time you give yourself to complete a task, the more time you will take.

Parkinson’s Rule “Work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion.”

Set time limits ahead of schedule and get the necessary work out of the way to allow you to have more fun in your business.

What do you want to step into today and get serious real about your business?

7 Time Management Tips For Home Business

POST A REPLY        COMMENTS( 0 )

We all get 24 hours in a day, so why do some people accomplish more than others?

It’s not time management. It is management of priorities and acting on values.

For example, if you care about your health because you want the energy to keep up with your teenagers or grand kids, you’ll make it a priority to eat right and exercise because you value your health. If the profits from your business pay the groceries, electric bill, car payment, and so on, you’ll do what you need to do to generate the profits you need.

Time management tips

How many times have you started the day doing all the easy things so you could cross them off your list and then gotten to the end of the day and realized you didn’t do the income generating tasks?

It may feel uncomfortable to pick up the phone, talk to someone new, share your opportunity, or ask for a booking. The difference between those who get more done and those who don’t boils down to doing the income generating tasks first, even if they don’t like to do them. Get the discomforting thing done and then the rest will be easier to accomplish.

Time Management Tips

These 7 tips can help you get a sort your priorities.

  1. Know your goals.
  2. Know what steps / actions it takes to reach your goals.
  3. Determine which tasks are necessary for each step toward your goal.
  4. Determine the time it will take each day for your actions.
  5. Decide which tasks generate income and help you toward your goal, and schedule those first in your calendar.
  6. Plan the necessary amount of time into your work week schedule.
  7. Refuse to rationalize away your plan and resolve to stick to it.
