MyDSWA Direct Sales Article & Discussion Guidelines

The DSWA Blog is intended to facilitate respectful dialogue about a variety of topics including the direct sales industry, training, coaching and other educational and personal growth topics specific to the direct selling profession.

Educational Direct Selling Articles Guidelines

The following guidelines apply to all articles posted to the DSWA blog:

  • You must be a DSWA member to post to the blog.
  • Articles must be 300-500 words.
  • All articles must be unique, meaning never before and never in the future published anywhere on the internet (or in any other media) in the form submitted here.*
  • Submitted articles should include ethical and fair writing that doesn’t put the publisher in a compromising position.
  • Articles use vibrant, timely/current content written with your own voice.
  • Articles are subject to proofing and editing at our discretion.
  • All articles will be submitted for approval prior to posting.
  • Author bio is 325 characters or less including spaces.
  • Your WordPress bio will be appended on every article.  Be sure to include your bio information within the user section of the admin so that it gets added to the bottom of each article.
  • Only one hyperlink is permitted per article to outside or personal sites.  This may be in the last paragraph only.
  • Other hyperlinking is permitted within the body of the article provided it links to another page in
  • No sales, recruiting, marketing or promoting of products, opportunities or services will be allowed.
  • Personal promotion is prohibited.
  • Articles should be educational in nature.
  • There should be no mention of specific companies in the article body.

* Copyright infringement, or copyright violation, is the unauthorized use of works covered by copyright law, in a way that violates one of the copyright owner’s exclusive rights, such as the right to reproduce or perform the copyrighted work, or to make derivative works.  You are legally responsible for your commentary. Individual bloggers can be held personally liable for any commentary deemed to be defamatory, obscene, proprietary, or libelous (whether pertaining to individuals, or any other company for that matter). For these reasons, bloggers should exercise caution with regards to exaggeration, colorful language, guesswork, obscenity, copyrighted materials, legal conclusions, and derogatory remarks or characterizations. In essence, you blog (or post) at your own risk. Outside parties actually can pursue legal action against you (not Yahoo or Google!) for postings.

All comments must be business-related and must comply with the DSWA Code of Honor.   You agree not to post or transmit anything unlawful, threatening, libelous, defamatory, obscene, inflammatory or pornographic, or anything that infringes upon the copyright, trademark, publicity rights or other rights of a third party. You agree to defend, indemnify and release DSWA and any related entity from any and all liabilities, claims, or damages resulting from any content you contribute or link to.

All comments are moderated. Comments aren’t posted immediately. They’re screened for relevance to the topic and compliance with our Discussion Guidelines.  Please be patient.  Anonymous comments will not be posted. Any comments falling outside of the Discussion Guidelines will not be published, as determined solely by DSWA’s sole discretion. If you submit a comment, you warrant that it is your own the original work and that it complies with the Discussion Guidelines.   We will ask for your e-mail address when you post a comment. Your e-mail address will not be published but may be used to verify your comment or possibly to contact you regarding your comment.
